When I first started making wordpress blogs one of the first things that I would do is to go and search for and download every plugin through the plugin search function of wordpress. This is a lengthy process and was something that I didn’t look forward to doing as it was very monotonous. Finally I found a solution to this problem.

An FTP client is a program that you download onto your computer and it allows you to directly login to your hosting accounts system and upload as many files and folders as you want at a time. I’ve known about this for a while but always had trouble setting one up. Once I actually put effort into it, it was quite easy to set up.

The one that I personally use is called File Zilla. This is a very straight forward and very easy to use FTP Client, and best of all it is free!

When you get File Zilla you’re going to see this at the top, prompting you for your server and login information:

This is the only complicated part, because of how variable the information is that you can get. What I did was go onto my hosts website and go to the help section. There I searched for FTP client information and it popped up right away.

Once you have been able to log in you’re going to want to have a folder on your computer full of all the plugins that you want to have on all your different websites. I have a standard of about 7 or 8 that I’ll use on every website. On the left side will be the view window for the files on your own computer, while the right side will be the view window for the files on the hosts server. This is what mine looks like:

www –> SITENAME.COM –> wp-content –> plugins
Select all your plugins on the left at once, right click, and click on ‘Add Files to Queue’. This will then send your files that you want to transfer over to your blog to a queue. Now that they’re in the queue, look at the top toolbar and hit the ‘Toggles processing of the transfer queue’ button, and all your files will be transferred over at once!

Now login to your WordPress control panel and head to the plugins section. Hit the box by the plugin heading on the page, and go to the Bulk Actions drop down box and select Activate. Then press Apply.

You’ve now uploaded every plugin that you use in a very effecient and effective manner and saves you from the drudge of finding every single one and activating it. Even if your plugins are outdated WordPress now has an updates option on the Dashboard drop down box of the wordpress toolbar in which you can update every plugin all at once, again saving you a lot of time.

Once you have signed up for your master blogging account with Google, head over to their Google Webmaster Tools. Once you are at this screen it will ask you to simply sign in with your account, and that’s all you’ll have to do.

You’ll then be asked to verify that you own the site, and this is a pretty simple process. We suggest uploading an HTML file as editing your blogs templates could have terrible results if you mess anything up.

All you will need to do is log into your hosting account for your wordpress blog, go to file manager, and create a file named after whatever they have you name it. Make sure you do this in the root directory upon which your wordpress is installed.

One very very easy way to check is by using Yahoo Site Explorer. This is a great tool that will allow you to see the backlinks of not just your site, but also of your competitors sites. That is a very powerful thing to know. Once you can see the competition, you will know if you’ll be able to conquer that position they are in or not.

Well it doesn’t seem that I have very many backlinks and I’m not ranking too well for my keywords.. how do I get more?

These are the new crave of sites that allow you to sign up and follow the theme of the site. Sites such as Squidoo.com are for making ‘lenses’ where you can make your own personal page about anything you want. Well, we have a great way to take advantage of that.

Start by making your own lens about whatever you blog is about. Then throw in a link or two to your homepage. Now what has this accomplished? You now have 2 backlinks coming to your site from a very popular and powerful site (google likes this) and you now have a whole new page promoting your blog.

There are so many more but these are a few you can start with. All that you’ll want to do is create a small informative page/blog about whatever you are blogging about and post links back to your main site. This creates a large web of sites all revolving around your main blog.

Blog Commenting

This is a new one I just picked up. Go into your Google account, and if you haven’t already made one make one NOW!!, and check out the Google Alerts. Put your Google Alert settings to this:

This will send you a list of blogs that write about your keyword every day. With this awesome resource coming to you everyday you can then go into each blog that is sent to your e-mail and write a comment about the article. Try to make the comment valuable. Don’t just go in and say hey great post and leave. Offer something that will make the administrator want to keep your comment there.

Now what is the purpose of this? Yes you are right, it creates backlinks. Not only that but when you comment on a blog you can use your name as your anchor text and link it right back to your homepage. This is very important in dominating specific keywords.

Link Exchanges

This is the easiest of all of them to do. What you do is search for your keyword and on the front page contact all the webmasters you can and ask them for reciprocal links. While not all will say yes, the ones that will do it will create a huge amount of backlinks for you that will help juice up your site.

Google Analytics for WordPress | How To Make Blog
Now that you have your blog set up, you are going to want to track who’s coming to your site, where they’re coming from, and what they’re looking at. Log in to your Google account, or signup if you haven’t already. Visit the Google Analytics page Here. If you haven’t signed up already you’ll be brought to a page that looks like this:

Click Access Analytics to link your Google account with Analytics. On the next page you’re brought to simply click on the Sign Up button to sign up for analytics.

click Create New Account.
You’ll be brought to a page that has your huge tracking code. For us WordPress users we don’t have to worry about that because we’re going to be using something much simpler. Simply click Finish and you’ll be brought to this page:

The code circled in RED is the code we are going to be using. So where are we going to put this code on our WordPress blog? Well if you haven’t already done so download the Google Analytics for WordPress Plugin or search for it on your plugins dashboard.

Once you have downlaoded and installed this plugin visit the dashboard under Plugins > Google Analytics.

We have covered up our code for security purposes but you will enter your code in the area circled in red, and make sure that you place the tracking script in the footer.

Click Update Settings and your Google Analytics will now be activated! it will take some time for the data to be processed and show up on your google analytics dashboard. To access it simply go to your Google Dashboard and click on Analytics. Click on Analytics and you’ll be brought to your Google Analytics Dashboard. Here you can play around with all the settings and features and now you can see how great Google Analytics really is with the amount data it processes.

With this information you can now see where your traffic is coming from and what they are looking at. With that you can then increase what’s working for you. If you’ve been article marketing and its been driving crazy traffic then rinse and repeat. If you’ve been social bookmarking with no effect at all then stop doing that and write more articles! If you’re getting a high bounce rate for your home page maybe you should change it up to make it more appealing to your visitors.

That’s only the tip of the iceberg. There are so many things you could do with analytics and if you’re trying to monetize your blog or bring in more traffic, not using analytics is leaving money and visitors on the table.

Keyword Research Basics | How To Make Blog
Keyword Research is one of the must important fundamental concepts you must master if you want to learn to conquer niche’s. This will be the basics behind getting organic search results.

When you first start a website that is designed to get traffic from search engines, you base your ENTIRE site off of a keyword. You don’t have to use just one keyword, but you’re going to have your very base keyword thoroughly researched.

There are many free tools out there that allow you to do this and I will cover this topic using those.

There are two factors when picking a good keyword: Searches/Month and Website Competiton. We’re going to have to find out both of these.

Let’s fire up Google’s free Keyword Tool and have a look at what that looks like:

If you click on the image you’ll notice I typed in Quick Weight Loss. The reason for this is if you’re new to website creation and traffic generation you’re going to want to target small niche’s that don’t have a lot of competition. If you went for a more broad keyword you would have quite a difficult time ranking on any search engines and getting any traffic from all your hard work. Work smarter not harder!

Alright, let’s get our keyword idea’s and see what happens:

Google Keyword Tool Results

This may be confusing to look at but it’s very simple and organized. On the left you will see suggested keywords to use, then advertiser competition, then local search volume, and global search volume. I tend to base all of my numbers on the Global Search Volume.

I’ve scanned through the list and have found a keyword with reasonable search volume that will probably have low competition. ”Quick Weight Loss Pills” that has a global search volume of 1,900. Alright that sounds good and all but how are you going to find it’s competition? This step is very easy. Simply go to Google.com and search “Quick Weight Loss Pills” **With Quotes**. The quotes are going to tell you how many sites are directly competiting for that keyword. Without the quotes it is all the websites that are relevent to that keyword and they could be a huge number of different keywords.

Alright I’ve searched on Google for Quick Weight Loss Pills and this is what we see:

Notice that the only competition is 12,000 sites. This is a relatively low amount of competition for any keyword and with proper research and search engine optimization on your blog you should easily be able to rank number 1 for this.

Now that we’ve found a keyword we want to check to make sure that the domain is available. Simply go to your favorite domain and hosting site and check to see if QuickWeightLossPills.com is available.

It appears that the .com is not available at the moment, but the .org is. This is completely fine and there is no better domain ending. .Org is just as good as .com or .net.

There, you’ve done it! You’ve found a profitable keyword that you should be able to easily rank for and start getting traffic to. This little bit of information you have just read will greatly increase your ability to get traffic. Without proper keyword research the rest of your hard work will have been for nothing if nobody is going to see it and if nobody is going to purchase anything you are selling.

Once you’ve mastered this process and have set up a few blogs and perhaps you’d like to get serious about it I highly recommend checking out Micro Niche Finder. This software allows you to research, in depth, multiple keywords. It is an amazing product that will help you reap the benefits of smart marketing.

Using an FTP Client | How To Make Blog
When I first started making wordpress blogs one of the first things that I would do is to go and search for and download every plugin through the plugin search function of wordpress. This is a lengthy process and was something that I didn’t look forward to doing as it was very monotonous. Finally I found a solution to this problem.

An FTP client is a program that you download onto your computer and it allows you to directly login to your hosting accounts system and upload as many files and folders as you want at a time. I’ve known about this for a while but always had trouble setting one up. Once I actually put effort into it, it was quite easy to set up.

The one that I personally use is called File Zilla. This is a very straight forward and very easy to use FTP Client, and best of all it is free!

When you get File Zilla you’re going to see this at the top, prompting you for your server and login information:

This is the only complicated part, because of how variable the information is that you can get. What I did was go onto my hosts website and go to the help section. There I searched for FTP client information and it popped up right away.

Once you have been able to log in you’re going to want to have a folder on your computer full of all the plugins that you want to have on all your different websites. I have a standard of about 7 or 8 that I’ll use on every website. On the left side will be the view window for the files on your own computer, while the right side will be the view window for the files on the hosts server. This is what mine looks like:

www –> SITENAME.COM –> wp-content –> plugins
Select all your plugins on the left at once, right click, and click on ‘Add Files to Queue’. This will then send your files that you want to transfer over to your blog to a queue. Now that they’re in the queue, look at the top toolbar and hit the ‘Toggles processing of the transfer queue’ button, and all your files will be transferred over at once!

Now login to your WordPress control panel and head to the plugins section. Hit the box by the plugin heading on the page, and go to the Bulk Actions drop down box and select Activate. Then press Apply.

You’ve now uploaded every plugin that you use in a very effecient and effective manner and saves you from the drudge of finding every single one and activating it. Even if your plugins are outdated WordPress now has an updates option on the Dashboard drop down box of the wordpress toolbar in which you can update every plugin all at once, again saving you a lot of time.

Best Color Schemes for Your Online Marketing
Many business owners launching a new website or even updating their current ones pay close attention to some of the key elements that make up a search engine-friendly design: keywords, header tags, word count, meta descriptions, images, and even site upload times. What they often overlook, however, is something as simple as the site’s color palette.

Even something as simple as inverting the colors on a site (i.e., changing the palette from a black background with white text to one with a white background with black text) can increase the conversion rate of a site. It makes sense, as color theory has proven that colors can evoke certain emotions in people, and marketing is nothing if not an attempt to inspire people to take action based on their reaction to an ad campaign.

What, then, are the best color schemes for your online marketing? Well, it depends on what you’re trying to accomplish, but there are color combinations that have proven particularly effective in attracting the eye and keeping visitors clicking through a site:

For businesses, think blues and whites. If you check out online design galleries featuring website templates specifically targeting professional services companies, for example, you’ll likely see plenty of blue, white and black. Blue is a cool, calming and relaxing color, denoting responsibility and professionalism. Want to convey trustworthiness? Blue is your color.
For companies targeting the consumer market, think of your audience. Obvious color combinations are pink for baby or child-related consumer products and greens and browns for eco-friendly products. Do you offer financial services such as accounting, personal finance or banking? Think green, a color closely associated with wealth.
If you offer a creative service such as interior design, try a palette using orange as a prominent accent color or even background color. Orange is similar to red in its ability to evoke passion and energy, but it provides a warmer, more inviting atmosphere.
For landing pages, consider red and white. There’s a reason why red and white remain a very popular web design color palette. Red denotes power, energy and passion. Even if your landing page palette may be blue and white, experiment with using red as the color of your Call to Action buttons.
As with anything related to website design and digital marketing, the most important thing to do when determining how successful an element is in converting visitors into leads, always experiment to find the best combination of colors for your site. For example, while many webmasters find that a red Call to Action (CTA) button drives more clickthroughs than, say, a green one, another might find that a white CTA button — when contrasted against a strong background and sized appropriately for visibility — can be equally effective.
