This post isn’t so much an internet marketing tutorial. I thought I’d start blogging about what I’m doing so that it might help others who want to follow in my footsteps so to speak.

Today I’m going to talk about my first video tutorial and how I made it and some of the challenges that I came across.

A little while ago I signed up to By the way this is a great little online app that is so freakin easy to use I absolutely love it. I highly recommend taking the Pro account as its only about 12 bucks a year and it the extra options are really cool.

Anyway I had a friend of mine ask me to send her a step by step tutorial on how to reset her email password in Cpanel. I thought this would be an awesome opportunity to start making some short videos for my hosting site.

So I fired up the screencast-o-matic app and centered the frame on my browser. Then I just went through a rehearsal of what I was going to teach. Making sure to explain it exactly as I would if my friend were sitting right beside me.

Once I felt pretty confident that I had my lesson down pat. I fired up the recorder and did I 30sec level test to make sure that my mic (a cheap logitech headset) sounded fine and there wasn’t any external noises. After a few short adjustments I was able to hit record and breeze through the tutorial in one take.

Once I was done I was able to upload the video straight to youtube using Screen-cast-o-matics publish feature. The best thing was that it just worked nice and smooth right off the bat

While watching the video on Youtube I thought to myself “I’d really like to include some branding at the start of the video”. So I opened up and did a search for “Video logo intro”. There were loads of results to go through so I sorted by rating. This is a really important step as it weeds out any gigs that have negative reviews and shows us only the best. Which is exactly what we want right?

Anyway after browsing through a bunch of gigs I still didn’t find one that had the precise feel that I wanted. So I thought “screw this I’m going to Youtube to see if I can make one myself”.

After a quick search on Youtube I found loads of cool tutorials on how to make video intros using a piece of Software from Adobe called After Effects. A deeper search revealed that I could even purchase templates where I could plug in my logo and slogan and boom! It would spit out a cool animated video intro.

Tomorrow I’m going to post about how I made my own video intro and how you can too. I’m also going to share a way you can make a bit cash on the side making short intro videos.

Wordtracker also goes one step further. It ranks all the keywords in what they term a Keyword Effectiveness Index (KEI) – a ranking which is based on the number of searches and the amount of competition that exists for that term. This is especially useful for affiliate marketers as it enables them to identify high frequency terms which have limited competition.

You need a list. That’s a given. It’s the one thing above all else that matters most. Because you can market to your list whenever you want. It’s like a renewable resource that allows you to make money on demand.

So, how do you build a list?
There are 3 factors in list building you need to consider:

The Squeeze Page
The Bribe
The Thank You Page
Your Opt-in Page – The landing page is the page that has your opt-in form on it. This is where they will enter their email address. This page needs to look professional. And it needs to be simple to see how to opt in. And your call to action must be clear!

Failure to include a great “call to action” will result in failure. This is a definitive message that tells your visitor what to do. And if you don’t include it, they won’t opt in. Oddly, if you don’t make it clear, people will be confused and end up doing nothing.

You can take your opt-in page to the next level if you make it a video squeeze page. You only have a few second to get your visitors attention – video helps! Plus it give you a chance to tell them to opt in multiple times. Then at the end of the video you can print “sign up now” on the video.

If you don’t know how to make video, don’t worry. You can hire freelancers to do this for you for a few hundred dollars. There are also list building systems that give you squeeze page templates.

The Bribe – Next, you’ve got to figure out what your bribe is. People won’t give you their email for nothing. Most people are very protective of their email address. So you have to give them a good reason to do it.

You have to provide value in your bribe for it to be good. Then it becomes something people want to get from you. And can benefit from. A few ideas:
