Customers are being more  and more picky about were they spend their money! We all know this. It is no surprise. Folks used to just go wherever was quick and easy lay down the cash, eat, and leave. If you are still trying to cater to those customers, they are far few and between and only getting worse.

Patrons are looking for attention, politeness, and a great meal for little money as possible. People are going back to the older way of thinking more and more. They want to get what they pay for and then some. It is always most important to concentrate on the quality of the food that you provide. Most important!!!! But, you should also start teaching your employees to pay attention to detail with every customer.

The detail is what will keep that customer coming back. Remembering the customers that frequent your place of business. Actually talk with the customers about others things besides if they want more tea or soda. People love to tell their opinion about all sorts of things. If they believe that they can make a change by voicing their opinion, they will. Have you ever wanted to let a restaurant know what you really think? I have plenty of times. Let your customers speak. Then actually take what they have to say and make some changes. You have to see things through their eye’s.

Create conversation, be appreciative of their business, listen to what they have to say, and make those changes. What is the worst thing that could happen? You might make more money, and that is what we are all working hard for!

It is a classic story that is told all the time!

I person falls ass backwards into the BBQ Restaurant business and becomes very successful. You have that one signature item that you do great and no one can imitate. The people are lining up at the door everyday to get a plate of your delicious food. Smoked to perfection and covered in that special BBQ Sauce you make from scratch everyday.

Then the owner decides to grow a brain and thinks he can compete with the other guy’s selling new ideas that have nothing to do with what really works for him. He adds onion rings  and burgers maybe some sort of Tilapia or Salmon to his menu.

What do you think happens next? The customer starts seeing a decline in the quality of that signature BBQ he became famous for. Now he is just like everyone else and can’t understand what is happening! It spins out of control so fast that he closes the doors very soon after that.

Sound somewhat familiar? Don’t let this happen to you! Make your restaurant the best you can do! Concentrate on the things that got you there in the first place. Those signature dishes made from scratch that nobody else has. You will have more satisfied customers everyday. It is great to run a special for something new once in a while, but make sure that it goes right a long with the other items on your menu! Don’t sale ribs if you are in the seafood business.

Try new things, but be smart about it!

I Am Commited To:

To my friends, We can’t do this alone, and a good friend is hard to find. Be there when they need us, listen when we need to, give advice when asked, never judge, and stick by them….regardless. Just like family, friends are a two-way street, and need our support as much as we need them.

To my family, My spouse, my kids, my siblings. Don’t be a stranger. These people have known us our entire life…..and still like us. That says something. Show the same to them.

To my faith, Without it….we are lost.

To my career, Notice we didn’t say job. There is a difference. Mowing the yard is a “job”, what you do all-day, everyday defines who you are in this world. It is your career. Make the best of it.

To my company, They have trusted us to do our best, everyday, and to work as a team for continued success and profitability. Anything less than that from us is shameful.

To my customers and business associates, Just like our company, these people depend on us to show up and do our best. Without our best, it makes their lives more difficult. Why would we do that to people we desperately need to succeed?

To the truth, This is not always the easiest path, but it is the right path. The truth is hard, the truth is not always pretty, but it is the only way we will ever win.

To my health, Bad habits need to go away, and good habits need to be started. Anything is excess needs to stop, and anything involving moving around needs to start. Replace that Twinkie with a 15 minute walk. The difference will save our lives.

To my brain, It is the most under-utilized part of our being. It is the most super of super computers, and we fill it with reality TV and bad news. Quit it! Read something…..study a completely foreign subject..….take a class…..do a cross word puzzle….anything. Just don’t allow it to go to mush.

To my passions, NOT passion, but passions. Our hobbies and our interest that help us relax. Whatever it is, make time to do it. From wood carving to bass fishing to collecting ceramic squirrels. Whatever it is….do it, enjoy it, and make plans to do it again soon. Without our passions, we will go crazy.

To have fun, Sometimes as grown-ups we get so bogged down with the world we forget about this one. Don’t let outside influences suck the life out of you. Quit taking yourself so serious. If you have forgotten how to have fun, look to kids for guidance. Their whole world revolves around the next game, or ice cream cone, and they love to laugh. Laugh as often as you can, at anything you can.

To make the most of everything I do, This is it. We have one shot at it. Don’t waste a single second on the mundane and unimportant. Life is Good…..make it count.

Happy 2010

I sell groceries for a living and I can tell you that the last 4 months have been the worst in 4 years! My customers have been pretty loyal to me and I can’t even explain how fortunate I feel for that.

It is not that they are buying from someone else, they are just not buying! I go in one place after the other and all I see is empty tables. Is this happening to you? Is it just that people are spending their money on presents? What can you do to make it better.

You have to make yourself unique!!! Don’t be a ,”ME TOO”, restaurant!!! You have to tell people why you are different than the other guy! Explain in great detail! Don’t just say we make our own sauce from scratch! You have to tell people where the tomatoes come from and how long you cook the sauce and describe the spices and seasonings that you use! People love discription!

Would you rather hear this?

We make our own sauce from scratch daily!

Or would you rather hear this?

Our tomatoes are grown in the San Fernando Valley of California, we cook them for 3 hours on low heat and blended with 8 kinds seasonings.

This is just a taste of what you can do to your menu or special board! You have to be different! And tell your customers why! They will notice the difference time and time again! Believe you me, they will think of you when spending their hard earned cash on out to eat!

It is not what you say, but how you say it! Makes all the difference!

Share your thoughts or examples with everyone else!

Cell phones have become a big pain in the backside for employers. Employees sneaking in the other room talking and texting as fast as they can. This cost you a lot of money and time when they could be doing something else a lot more productive. Cleaning, or Helping Customers, and most of all Not Riding the Clock.

Let’s try and take a look at the cell phone as an Opportunity.

We all have them, and so let‘s use them to makeMoney!!!

You Are Going To Love This!

Hold a 10 minute meeting every morning before opening and have all your employees type in a text message that tells the daily special, and have them send it to all of there friends and family asking them to stop by and check it out! Give the customer an incentive to drive to your location!! Give them a FREE glass of tea or a dessert. This will work wonders for your business and your employees will make more money too!!

It’s FREE to you! It’s FAST! It will Bring Results!!

Place a fish bowl up front and start collecting numbers as fast as you can. Let the customer know what you are doing, you do not want to upset them or waste there time! Tell them you are going to give away free stuff with your messages and they do not want to miss out. Everyone loves free stuff.

Start doing this today! You have nothing to lose!!

IT’S FREE Advertising!!!

Taking a risk like this is foolish! You have spent a lot of money and time in your buisness just to screw it up! Be careful when buying and transporting food that you are preparing for the public! You don’t want your restaurant to be on the news for something like this!

Most restaurant owners at the sign of adversity start slashing all thewrong things. They cut out on buying quality products to save money. The cut out on employee help.

They stop advertising!!!

These are the worst things that you can do!!!!

Never sacrifice quality or labor and most importantly never stop marketing your business! These are the lifes blood to everything that you have worked so hard for. Just do it smarter than the next guy. You don’t have the money that the big chains do, I know! But, people would rather spend their money with a local business than with a chain anyday of the week. These are people who we share our lives with. Communities all have schools, churchs, fire departments, police officers, chamber of commerce, football, baseball, track, volleyball teams,  and the list goes on and on.

Get a Mailing List!

Mailing list work! You have to just find your niche to drive the customers back into your store. Make it personal. Put an actual stamp on the post card. Never bulk mail. Write the addresses on them with pen and sign each one. Make it short, sweet and straight to the point. Thank them for theirbusiness. The average direct mailing gets 1.97% return on every 100 mailed out! If you do what I say! You will get 20 % return minimum!

                                                             This is HUGE!!!

If you think I am nuts, just mail out 100 postcards to anyone within a 1 mile radius of your business! Put a picture on one side that has nothing to do with your business ( They will throw it away if they think they are being sold to!)and the otherside an offer that is very short and direct!

MAKE IT GOOD! Give them something FREE!!

Tea, salad, bread, dessert, etc… And see what happens! You can print them from home and mail them with a .23 cent stamp! Most people have a computer that they place customer information in a database! Print it out and use it! THIS IS GOLD! They have already spent money with you! Just get them to buy more often! That is the number one trick!! Mail the cards on a Monday or Tuesday! That way your card does not get lost with everyone elses on a Thursday.

That is the day you get all your junk mail if you haven’t noticed!

You don’t want that day!!!!

Let me know how it works for you! If you have any questions? Leave a comment! I will answer it! Gaurenteed!

Good luck and never sacrifice quality!

Food Distributors put these people on the streets that have no clue on what they are doing! Most of them do not have any restaurant experience at all let alone what kind of flour to sale you! Most of them think all flour is the same!

If you Sales Rep can’t give you want you want FIRE THEM!

Firing a sales rep is easy! Call their boss and request someone new. Tell them that you want someone with food service experience. They are out there! You just have to get one that knows what they are talking about! You have no problem turning over an employee when they lose you money! So don’t be afraid to do the same here!!!!

They should have experience!!

Ask the sales rep what there back ground is. This should be the first clue to what is in it for you! People with some sort of experience in the kitchen or the front of the house or paying the bills and taxes will have sympathy for you! This is a good thing!

Sympathy brings you attention!

Attention is what we all need in this time of need. Attention can bring you more things than you can imagine! New menu ideas, food cost analysis, employee cost analysis, and rebates! Yes!!! Rebates!!!

Rebates are Awesome!

Food Brokers are hurting too! They want you to buy their products! They are even paying restaurants to do so! Through deviations, free cases, and even writing checks monthly and quarterly to people out there just like you! Your Sales Rep should be informing you of this. If he or she is not doing this for you FIRE THEM! There are other distributors with eager beavers who want your business. Make your Rep work for you.

Order takers are a thing of the past!

These people are a partner in your business. The more you make, the more they make. It is in their best interest to help you succeed! Make them work for their money! You have to work for yours! Get them to bring the new ideas to the table. New food ideas, help change your menu, get you in touch with brokers that will help you make more money! That is the name of the game! Why else work 70 to 100 hours per week for the same pay as 40 hours working for someone else! Because you want to be your own boss! I did it for 14 years! I have been there! I made a lot of money! No one told me how to do it! I had to do it the hard way!

Trust me and start this today! I will have more to come ongetting more free stuff from your distributors and your Sales Rep! Stay Tuned!!!

Calculate ROI of SEO Campaigns Like the Pros
SEOFacebook1Google+2LinkedIn2Twitter1Pinterest0For many search marketers, both professional and novice, measuring the success of various marketing channels can help to understand the strengths, weaknesses and opportunities for any given tactic. One of the most traditional ways to measure success is to determine profitability, or return on investment (ROI). Essentially, when you calculate ROI of SEO campaigns, you are measuring whether or not you have made a profit or taken a loss on the money you have invested to perform the SEO activities in your campaign. While you may not have spent any money on paid media, such as advertising costs in Paid Search, the time you spend building links, the money you spend on tools to analyze your results, and the funds you invest to have great content developed all add up to an investment in SEO.

Recently, Neil Patel, the co-founder of KISSmetrics, an analytics provider that helps companies make better business decisions and blogger at Quick Sprout, published a very useful graphic to help the average business owner or digital marketer finally calculate ROI of SEO campaigns just about as easily as you can for any direct purchase marketing methods. You can view the graphic HERE.

For those who just want to know the highlights, basically, Neil measures ROI by taking Cost per Acquisition (CAC) away from the average Lifetime Value (LTV) of each customer. ROI=LTV – CAC. So, how do you find the Cost per Acquisition or Lifetime Value for your business? CAC is calculated by taking your SEO Cost per Acquisition (total cost of all SEO spending divided by number of customers achieved through SEO campaign) and adding that to your fixed cost per all acquisitions (cost of website hosting, overhead, etc.). Lifetime Value is calculated by taking the number of purchases per year the average customer makes * the average purchase price * the life expectancy of each customer in your system in years * gross profit margin. The graphic lays this all out quite nicely.

Now, you have an effective way to calculate ROI of SEO campaigns like the pros. No more excuses!Related Posts:Cheap Sex Live Chats with MILF Cam Girls

————————————-

One of the key skills in internet marketing is knowing how to build a squeeze page that works. In case you don’t know, a squeeze page is a webpage where there’s only one option for the visitor, usually to fill out an opt-in email form. They either do that, or hit the back button and leave. In other words, you give your visitor no option. You “squeeze” them into either “fishing or cutting bait”.

Some marketers feel like squeeze pages are too harsh. They don’t want to offend their potential buyers by saying “either take it or leave it.” Sure, if you don’t know how to build a squeeze page that works, you can offend some of your traffic. But there are two things to say about this.

One: The folks you offend weren’t real customers, anyway. They were just tire kickers. Look at it like this…if someone won’t fill out an opt-in email form, they’re not going to pull out their credit card later on and pay you for one of your products.

Two: This is actually the flip side of One. People who really want the information you’re offering want to give you their email address. For whatever reason they like you and have some degree of trust associated with you. If you know how to build a squeeze page that works well, you can capitalize on this trust and get them to give you their information.

A big part of how to build a squeeze page that works is what you’re offering for your customer’s email address. No one’s going to just fill out your opt-in form and give you their email address just because you asked them. You have to have something they want.

With internet marketers this “thing” usually takes the form of a report or short e-book that has information your customer wants. Of course, in the body of the squeeze page copy you need to explain this. You need to make it clear that you’re offering them, completely for FREE, a report which will tell them stuff they want to know.

Looked at like this, a squeeze page is basically a short sales letter. The “sale” is your getting the email address. What you’re selling is your giveaway. It’s going to “cost” your visitor their email address to get the report.

There’s no real trick to knowing how to build a squeeze page that works. It’s not magic. You just need to explain (usually through bullet points) what your prospect can get by giving up their email address. If you give them more than they feel like they’re giving up, you’ve got a sale. And another email address to sell stuff to over and over again.

Local Business Marketing Online |

Local search results have become prime real estate on the search engine results page. These results are displayed under the sponsored advertisements, pushing the universal search results down. To most business owners’ ranking in the local results, such as Google Maps, is imperative to their company’s online success. Why should local search be a part of your online marketing strategy? Not only does Google Maps prominently showcase local businesses at the top of their search results page, but provides customer reviews about an organization’s products and services. Searchers can read customer opinions about their experience with the organization. As you can imagine, customer reviews can hurt your company’s reputation or create customer evangelists producing a viral marketing effect. Recommendations for Local Search: 1. Get listed with Google’s Local Business Center. Be sure to completely fill-out all the information as much as possible including descriptions of products, service offerings and photos. 2. List your business on categories and subcategories that are related to your businesses niche. 3. Claim your listing. Once you have submitted your business to Google Local Business Center, you’ll need to claim your listing. Google does this by mail or phone. By claiming the listing, you are establishing a sense of trust to Google about your site. 4. Building trust through Webpage localization. Include city and state words or phrases in the Meta tags, headers and content. 5. Having a localized phone number and address in the footer helps build trust in the search engines, about your business’ geographical location. 6. Inner linking strategy should contain localized wording in the anchor text of the links. It assists in telling the search engines where and what that page is about. 7. Localized linking strategies provide prominence of geographical location. Build links from local organizations or directories in your area. For example, chambers of commerce are good links to obtain. 8. The search engine pulls results from local resources such as Yellow Pages, Super Pages, Dex Knows, Yelp, etc. . . It may be confusing to the search engines if the business title, phone number or address are different across any of these resources. Therefore, make sure all have the same information. Otherwise, you are decreasing the validity of your business’ location with the search engines. 9. Customer reviews assist in popularity. There are theories that customers with a good, quality review assist in the overall local search algorithm. We’ll be sure to publish our findings as these theories are tested. No one knows, except for the Google PhD’s, what makes up their local algorithm. Optimizing for universal search results and local search results are two separate algorithms. Local search is driven by business location, Website theme, phone number, local resources, customer reviews and more.Related Blogs

Relationship between the Internet and car buyers has increased consistently over the last few years. Today, Internet became an integral part of car buying process. A study by Capgemini, Cars Online 09/10 stated that almost 90 percent of consumers use the Internet to research vehicles. Its latest report, Capgemini Cars Online Study 10/11, revealed that over 40 percent of consumers would like the ability to purchase vehicles online, using the Internet for the complete end-to-end buying process, and not just for research. Many auto dealers understand this reality and have incorporated the Internet and related technology as part of their marketing and advertising efforts. Though some of them have embraced opportunity provided by the Internet, others are struggling to keep up with the constant developments and latest trends. Being aware of the buying behaviors of potential customers is important in developing and maintaining effective marketing strategies. One of the latest trends observed these days is that people are going online for local products or services. A survey from BIA/Kelsey revealed that 97 percent of consumers use online media while researching products or services in their local area. Keeping this in mind, major search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing are listing the top 10 local listings above their organic search results. Despite of the increasing focus on local search, many auto dealerships are simply ignoring this feature. If you are one of them, failing to use this feature to its fullest, you are losing all those valuable customers. Remember, your competitor can take action and grab them all. Though general search engine optimization (SEO) techniques work well for some websites, it is necessary to apply a more specific optimization concept called local search submissions. It attracts potential customers from the specific geographic location you are looking for. From the above discussion, it is clear that local search submissions are very important for local businesses, such as auto dealerships. Now we will learn how local search helps auto dealers in their business. Improves popularity People generally tend to trust the businesses they are familiar with. Local search submissions can help local auto dealers stand above and dominate their competition. Your high ranking in the local search listing makes the prospects learn about your business and it also shows your authority in your local area.
Gives more relevant traffic There is no value even if thousands of people visit your site who will never buy anything. On the other hand, highly targeted visitors, even if they are in small numbers are very valuable. This is where local search is very good at. While trying to promote your auto dealership, local search focuses ?? bringing ‘qualified’ leads – people who are in a position to purchase. As discussed above, major search engines have started laying a lot of stress on local listings. They are listed above the organic search results; usually shown in a map along with additional information like a description of your dealership, business hours, products or services you offer, contact info, etc. So, a well-structured local search campaign helps you gain a powerful competitive advantage over your competitors using high visibility in the search engines. The ultimate goal of this campaign is to ensure that your dealership comes up in the results when a potential customer is looking for the services you offer in your region. Low investment and better ROI Traditional advertising methods such as billboard advertising, flyer distribution, advertising in local radio or newspapers may cost you hundreds of dollars (sometimes thousands). Yet, most of the times, they do not provide any positive results. Whereas search submissions on local web portals and sites requires less investment and can build up a solid return on investments (ROI) for your auto dealership as it targets all the potential customers. Another major trend that supports local submissions is ‘increasing usage of smart phones to find local businesses’. According to Compete, nearly one in three smartphone users called or stopped into a local business after finding it using a local search. Customers in your area are looking for your products and services online. Can your auto dealership afford not to be in the local search, which has grown over the years and is promising to continue its growth. Related Blogs

Website Marketing for a Local Business

If you do business in Fairfax, VA why would you want to advertise anywhere but Fairfax? Local search advertising is quickly becoming one of the most effective means to attract new customers. While fundamentally, local search uses the same strategies as search engine optimization and pay-per-click, the tactics are very different. The bottom line is that if you have a business local to the northern Virginia area, or any local geography, Search First can help.

With broad-based or national seo or ppc campaigns, great care is taken to drive targeted traffic to a Web site. Local search is no different, but we focus only on the geography right around your place of business. This is key for many service oriented businesses who do not want or need to market to buyers outside a local area. We have several key tactics in our local search services…

Local Pay Per Click: We’ll build your Google Adwords account within a geo-targeted area. This means that your ads will only show on Web searches done within a pre-defined distance from your place of business. If you are only going after customers within 25 miles or your location, then we’ll set your ads up to run that way.

Local Search Submission: We will go to Google Local, Yahoo! Local and MSN Local and manually submit your Web site to each. This will enable your site to be found in the local listings – attracting new customers from your area.

Action – we build your campaigns, track results and then make them better

Additional Pay-Per-Click Engines: We can set up and maintain your local search ads on any engine. Depending on your goals, we can set up additional ad distribution on MSN AdCenter and Yahoo! Search Marketing.

Local search advertising is at the heart of what we do. In addition to the paid ads, we will optimize your Web site so that it is targeted at the customers you want most – those in your neighborhood! Let’s get started today!

Because pay-per-click advertising is often a great way to target local customers, ask about special pricing for businesses who decide to combine PPC and SEO efforts!Free Website EvaluationWant to know if your Web site is optimized for search engines? by Caitlin on July 7, 2011

in blogging, Google ToolsSo, not only do we have to read and share content on the web, but we have to write it too? With so many things to get done in one business day including, reading, sharing, liking, friending, following, unfollowing, tweeting, digging, connecting and more, it’s almost impossible to save time to be original and publish your own content. Anything that can help save time brainstorming, researching, drafting, editing, and posting is an A+ in my book. Well no worries, Google Chrome just might be able to save the day, once again. Here are six extensions for Google Chrome that will make writing a blog post a little bit easier and, help you get done a lot quicker.

This Google Chrome extension is a must-have for people who love to write down their thoughts. With the Chrome Notepad editor, you can create, edit, delete, and save notes right in your Google web browser. I like this extension because I can organize my blogging to-dos and ideas where I spend most of my time: online.

I love Evernote and, its Clip to Evernote extension for Google Chrome is awesome. For note takers and bookmarkers, this just might be the extension of your dreams. Evernote is an online social note-taking platform, also known as an extension to your brain that helps you to easily remember things in life from your computer, laptop, phone, and internet. The Clip to Evernote extension for Google Chrome allows you to capture images, web pages, screenshots, make lists, type notes, jot down ideas, and organize everything so it’s easily searchable. This extension is extremely helpful when it comes down to blogging because you can quickly save ideas, topics, articles, and images you come across right from your browser – with the click of a button.

When I’m writing a blog post or even crafting an email, my desktop Thesaurus is my best friend, or was my best friend until I found this Google Chrome extension: Thesauraptor. No more loading another program or opening another search window to find that perfect replacement word for you blog’s headline, just type in into Thesauraptor.

The character count of a headline or blog post tile is important, especially for SEO reasons. I don’t know about you but, I hate taking the time to open up MS Word, copying and pasting the title into a document, and opening the character count tool just to see how many characters are in the title of my blog post drafted and already saved to the web. This extension saves some time and allows you to count the number of words and characters in a selection.

Picnik is a great web-based image editor which is why the Google Chrome extension is a must. The Picnik extension for Google Chrome allows you to easily edit images you come across browsing the web. How to Write an SEO Title Tag that Gets Clicks | in-house seo, keywords, search engine optimization, seo, Title Tags

by Patti on November 4, 2011

in in-house seo, keywords, search engine optimization, seo, Title Tags

If you’re finding that your website is just not getting the traffic you think it should have, or perhaps your website isn’t showing up in search results, the Title tags of your pages could be the problem. Title tags are the most important aspect of any Search Engine Optimization campaign (a close second is well written content, and lots of it). Before we explain how to write an effective title tag that gets clicks, we need to review what a Title tag is and where it appears in search engines. What the heck is a Title tag?

The title tag is an HTML title element that is crucial not only to SEO, but also to the user experience. Title tags are used to briefly and accurately describe the topic of an online document. Effective title tags get attention from search engines and visitors.Where is the Title tag?

You can find the Title tag in a few different places.1. In the source code.

Go to any webpage and view the source code. A few lines from the top, you will see this element:

Social Media Agency : SEO Agency : Inbound Marketing – Maine, NH, Boston2. In the browser bar and browser tabs.

3. In search resultsHow to Write Title Tags – Best PracticesKeep it Short

The optimal length for a Title tag is less than 70 characters. Notice in the image above that the title is truncated (“…”) – it’s a tad bit too long, so Google is only showing the first 68 or so characters.Put Primary Keyword Phrases First

Single keywords in a Title are never a good idea. Their too broad, you won’t rank for them, and your title will look like a string of keywords. It’s best to try to use 2-3 keyword phrases that accurately describe that page.If your brand is the most important element, put your brand name first.

Brand Name – Keyword Phrase 1 – Keyword Phrase 2If you’re more concerned about ranking for a certain keyword phrase, put it first.

Keyword Phrase 1 – Keyword Phrase 2 – Brand NameIf you only sell to a local area, be sure to include the Geo in the tag.

Keyword Phrase 1 – Geo Location – Brand NameKeep it Relevant

Don’t get caught up in keyword rankings. If your site is well written, has lots of great content, you will be found. Be sure to write your title tag to accurately represent the content of that page. Google is all about relevancy. Your Title tag must accurately correlate to your page content.Home Page

Every page of your website should have a unique Title tag. The home page typically has the most ranking power, hence, use your primary keyword phrases in the Title of the home page and in the content of the page itself. The home page introduces your company to the world, so it’s important that the keyword phrases are wisely chosen.Examples for an online chocolate chip cookie company:Good Title: Delicious Chocolate Chip Cookies – Order Cookies Online – Cookies-R-UsOK Title: Chocolate Chip Cookies by Cookies-R-UsBad Title: Cookies-R-UsBad Title: Welcome to Cookies-R-UsBad Title: Cookies, Cookies, CookiesReally Bad Title: HomeInternal Pages

The internal web pages of your site are supporting pages. You may have pages that get very specific, like a Product page, or that are more generic, like an About Us page. Using the same structure as the Home page, an internal page Title tag may read like this:Star Shaped Chocolate Chip Cookies by Cookies-R-Us – Order OnlineFinal Thoughts on Title Tags

When writing your Title tag, don’t write it just for the purpose of getting rankings on Google. While rankings are important, a Title tag that matches the content of that page is more important. As your web pages rise and fall in the rankings, it’s important to tweak your Title tags occasionally to make them more click-able, or tryout different keywords. Don’t be afraid of change here. Change is important with SEO.

HubSpot changes Inbound Marketing with HubSpot3 | Uncategorized | Internet Marketing Consulting – SEO – Social Media

by Patti on August 31, 2012

in Uncategorized

During their keynote message on August 29, 2012 at Inbound12, Dharmesh Shah and Brian Halligan, HubSpot Co-Founders, announced the launch of HubSpot3 and HubSpot3 for the iPhone.

HubSpot3, the biggest release in HubSpot history, promises to lead the next generation of inbound marketing.

Described as “1+1=3″, HubSpot3 makes the impossible possible by combining all the databases, systems, and applications that marketers use every day into one easy-to-use platform.

While HubSpot3 boasts over 100 applications, Dharmesh demonstrated what they feel to be their top 6.1. Contacts

With the ability to add up to 1000 custom fields, the Contacts app promises to be a game changer for marketers. The Contacts app allows marketers to store everything they know about their contacts in a timeline view. You will be able to see webpage views, email clicks, and social interactions all in one place.2. Social Media

HubSpot fixed their Social Media app by integrating a feature that allows you to share your content across as many social media sites as you want, and schedule your posts to go out at multiple times. No other social sharing platform currently does this. It’s a super time saver and game changer for marketers.3. Landing Pages

Create your own professional looking, optimized landing pages with no coding. The Landing Page app includes a simple drag and drop interface, live preview screen so you can see what your edits live as you make them, and the ability to put forms on the page without the help of a programmer.

The coolest part of the Landing Page app is that the forms are “smart” meaning that they remember the information your visitor has already completed so they don’t have to fill out the forms over and over again.4. Call-to-Action

HubSpot3 gives marketers the ability to create beautiful, professional CTA buttons in a flash, no designer needed. What’s even better is that the CTA app includes click and lead tracking, a/b testing capabilities, and the ability to personalize the CTA based on any of the information you have on that person in your database. If that visitor has previously visited a landing page and clicked on the CTA, the smart CTA feature allows the marketer to show them a different offer. How cool is that?5. Email

The Email app is the next generation email markeitng system. Similar to the Landing Page app, you can pick your email layout from a template, customize it, or upload your own design. The Email app boasts a new single page flow, floating live preview, and the ability to add social sharing. What’s even better is the ability to personalize the email subject, message, CTA and the reply to sender enter name.6. Workflows

The Workflows app makes easy what traditional marketing automation software makes hard. This app allows marketers to create automated emails from any feature within HubSpot3. Whether it be from form submissions, website analytics, email interactions or and social interactions, Workflows allows you to create smart lists and rules for automation. Send a lead to the CRM, update a lead score, set the lifecycle stage, change a CTA, or trigger a webhook based on any event that happens within HubSpot.HubSpot3 for iPhone

As announced today, a smaller version HubSpot3 will be available on the iPhone. The HubSpot apps on the iPhone will include Dashboard, Sources, and Contacts. When is HubSpot3 available?

HubSpot will roll out the upgrade to existing customers in phases. Log in to your HubSpot account for a message about the upgrade. New customers can go to http://www.hubspot.com/3.

Google tools to make blogging easier | Google, Google Tools | Internet Marketing Consulting – SEO – Social Media

by Caitlin on May 9, 2011

in Google, Google Tools

What would you do without Google? I recently tweeted this question and found out I am not the only hardcore Googler out there. One person said they’d cry, I said I’d melt, and someone else said they would do both, cry and melt.

Google offers more than just a great search engine; it also offers a ton of free tools that can help to make our work lives more efficient. In this series of posts written by myself and Patti Fousek, we will cover our favorite Google tools. From brainstorming and blogging, to SEO and social media, we’ll cover the top Google tools that assist us in our everyday tasks.

In the first post of the series, I’ll share my favorite Google tools for sparking blog topic ideas and improving blogging efficiency.

Coming up with new and creative ideas for your blog is not an easy task, even if you love blogging. Wouldn’t it be great to find other ways to spark creativity and keep track of your blog topic ideas over time? Absolutely. Especially if you’re swimming in Post-it to-do lists and daily email digests of industry news. Here are six fantastic Google tools that help me brainstorm ideas and keep organized through the blogging process.

Google Docs is at the top of this list for organization purposes. It’s simple to use and most importantly, accessible from anywhere. I like to use both Google Word Documents and Google Doc Spreadsheets to organize my blog ideas and posts.

If you don’t use an RSS reader, you probably suffer from a cluttered email inbox and receive several industry email newsletters a day. Google Reader is easy to use and will save you a ton of time. I subscribe to my favorite blogs and news sites via Google Reader, which I can organize into folders and read from one feed instead of many emails. When I’m in need of fresh blog ideas, I just browse through my Google Reader.

Google Trends is another great place get blog content ideas; it’s pretty simple. Enter topics into Google Trends and see how often these topics have been searched for on Google over time. We like to use this tool for keyword research too – we’ll cover that topic in a later post.

If you blog about current events or breaking news in your industry, you’ll want to use Google Alerts. Google Alerts monitor the web (news, blogs, websites, etc.) for keywords and topics you save as searches. When new content is posted online, Google Alerts sends you an email linking to the content. We find this tool especially helpful for the SEO and social media industry because hot topics literally pop up in a moment’s notice.

Coming up with a creative image for each blog post can sometimes be more difficult than creating the content itself. So when I’m in need of a little creative boost, I turn to Google Images and perform a little bit of research to help me get ideas for an image to create or purchase. When using an image you find anywhere on the web, always remember to give the originator credit.

Google Calendar is a great tool to use as a blogging editorial calendar. Google Calendar allows you to share your calendar with anyone. So, if your blog has many authors, this tool is a great, and free, way to keep everyone on task.

Give some of these tools a test run and let us know which you find helpful. We’d love to hear from you.

If you’re struggling with getting your corporate blog started, CreativeMind Search Marketing can create a blogging strategy that will boost you ahead of your competition.

How Long Should it Take to Write a Blog Post? | B2B Marketing, Blog Training, blogging

Earlier this week I read Mel Robbins‘ blog post “It’s All About the Gear,” which got me thinking about my own experience with blogging. Technically, I’ve been blogging for four years, but to me, I still feel like a novice. While I too struggle with many blogging challenges (ie. finding the time, organizing my thoughts, “having the right gear”, etc.), I always found that once I get started, finishing the blog post is relatively quick. Now remember, I don’t always go back and double check my grammar, or rewrite sentences that “bother” me. I just publish the post as is.

I did make the mistake once of editing a blog post after it was published to Twitter because I thought it was too harsh, but now I don’t really care who’s feelings get hurt, I just write what I want.

Why do I do this? Well, in the past I did find that it would take me forever to finish a post because I was treating the act of writing the post like writing a paper in college. I would struggle to find the right words, stress over grammar and paragraph length, and just basically get wound up in the details. Now, I just go with the flow. I may not ever be an award winning blogger because of this strategy, however, I feel that I get my point across and teach people a thing or two in the process.

So, back to the topic of this post: How long should it take to write a blog post? My answer to you is: Less than an hour.

Yes, that’s right…. less than an hour. In my opinion, if a blog post takes you longer than an hour to write… it’s not the topic you should be writing about. Now, I’m not talking about those posts where you’re reviewing a product or thought leadership posts, or a topic that requires research – obviously, those will take longer than an hour.

But for your everyday, run of the mill blog post…. like this one, less than an hour will suffice.

Now, if you follow Chris Brogan, you may have heard of his 20 minute plan (or the Pomodoro method – think tomato, not apple… LOL). He mentions that in 20 minutes you could complete a blog post, or get “half way there.” He is correct. OK, he’s Chris and he can spit out a blog post in his sleep, but his statement is correct.

I find that if I’m struggling to write a post, it’s either A. not a topic I know 100%, or B. I’m too concerned over the details.

The moral of post is…. stop endlessly trying to be perfect and just write a damn blog post! And remember, practice makes perfect. The next time you write a blog post, challenge yourself to write it in under one hour. I know you can do it!
